HOKSES ENGAGED AT HARLEM HARLEMThe The class of performers attracted by the big ad ¬ ded money to the Twentieth Century Harlem and Garden City Handicaps the popular Chicago stakes and the Austin and Riverside selling stakes is far ahead of that drawn by the same races of previous years The handicaps are among the richest in the country and the Garden City is a dash for sprinters that always enlists the speediest short distance runners of the day As individual nominations are frequently duplicated through the list of the seven fixtures for horses three years old and over the following table of the more prominent entries to the stakes mentioned has been prepared It is ample proof of the claim that the racing will be of high class classSIXYEAEOLDS SIXYEAEOLDS AND UPWAED SardonicMarta Lacrimae Of the 545 nominations for the twoyearold stakes itvniayrjbtf iaid1hattKeywiir contribute toward making these five events and the overnight dashes for that age among the most interesting in the west because of the record number of entries and the large array of stable interests they represent All the youngsters of prominence that have appeared at this early date are entered and the fact that all of the big stables in the list of nominators have been liberal in naming their twoyearolds bears out the prophecy that no colt or filly that indicated superior speed as a yearling has been left out Aside from this there can be no line as to the form of the young racers at this time Secretary Nath anson has been fortunate in his efforts to induce owners to hand in the names of their twoyearolds the final date for registering not yet having been reached and in this detail the Harlem stake book now in press will bo of special interest The secrecy that usually envelopes the identity of the youngsters trained by the leading western owners will be removed by this publication publicationThe The season at Harlem will bo one of fortythree days only but the program of stakes and purses will call for the distribution of 200000 Purses will bo increased in value and an effort made to im ¬ prove the quality of crosscountry sport in keeping with that on the flat Ten or more stakes for decis ¬ ion during the midsummer and fall meetings will be announced in July JulyThe The full list of nominators numbering 208 dif ¬ ferent stables and showing the number of entries made by each
