NOTES OF THE TURF. An idea of the interest in racing in the east, aside from the fact that every man who owns a horse he thinks has a "look in" is sending him east, may be gained from the number booking in the free field at Sheepshead Bay. Underneath the grand stand in that field, where is located the betting ring, are 138 bookmakers, all doing a tremendous business, giving better odds than in the big ring and taking wagers from fifty cents to . A. R Chicago. Peat was 3 to 5 to show in the fourth race of July 2 at Washington Park. It was omitted by oversight. This is the last day of the summer meeting of the Coney Island Jockey Club, with the Lawrence Realization as the big race of the day.
