The former was well in hand for the first half but grew leg weary in the deep going at the end. Barouche improved suddenly and displayed fine speed and stamina. Ehitai was always outrun. Plohn, skillfully handled, trailed the pacemakers to the stretch, where he came along with a rush, ran the best race of his career and is an improved horse. Ohnet easily outran his field, but was much used in disposing of Agnes D. and waB unprepared for the winners challenge at the end. Agnes D. tirea right at the end. Past was taken into bad going throughout, and generally messed about. The others were outclassed. Hnrstbourne beat the gate and quickly took a long and winning lead, which he retained without much effort to the end. Alsono finished well in the best going and was lucky to beat the badly ridden Rightful. The latter raced in the mud next to the rail and was too much used in trying to outrun the winner early. Highlander beat the gate, but Martin failed to take advantage of it, trailed the pacemakers to the stretch, came through next to the rail in bad going and suffered from a weak finish. Old England waited on Dublin, but failed to hold his own in the final effort in the last quarter. Belle of Troy went in remarkably improved form and is evidently rounding too. Our Nugget and Ithan finished strongly. Birch Broom bad no chance with a bad jockey. Joanne Marie led by a good margin at the first half and held on well at the end. Advance Guard, ridden right and saved for the last quarter, would probably have won easily. Lanceman quit after a fast brush on the far turn with Advance Guard.
