The Mirage displayed a surprising-burst of speed and opened up a gap in the first half that the others could never -4 overcome. Miss Chapman made up a lot of ground, but had to be hard ridden at the end to get second Elace and was tiring fast. Ringleader ran his race and was coming strongly at the finish. Onyx II. should have won, but Kelly eased up at the furlong post and rode a listless finish.- Cursus.ran the best race of the field and came very, fast in the last sixteenth. Senator Beveridge had to go all around his field, was doing his best at the end and was hard ridden all the way. Filibuster was under a hard drive for the entire journey and was tiring in the run home. Baffled came fast in the last quarter under the whip and was catching Filibuster at the finish. Harry Duke got the best of the start, but tired in the lait sixteenth under a weak finish. Meggs closed a big gap and finished stoutly. Juna-etta quit in the stretch.
