Lux Casta ran through the field in the first hundred yards with amazing speed and, forcing the pace throughout, drew clear in the stretch apparently an easy winner, but was driving at the end to beat Anak. The latter ran a remarkably fast and game race. Sadducee was going fastest of all at the end, closed a big gap in the last half and ran in his best form. Belle of Lexington held on in improved fashion. The Amazon, away flatfooted and knocked about in the first half, had absolutely no chance and closed an immense gap from the turn to the wire. She was easing up at the end and ran a good race. Cuspidor, Wealth and Lord Pepper were crowded out of the race early. The time ties the record.
