Death was not called upon until he was turning into the last quarter where he came away with a bound and won as his rider pleased. Andes ran a surprisingly good race in going not to his liking. He moved up fast in the last eighth and outstayed Emma R. in a drive for second place. The latter was tiring fast in the closing strides. Lady Idris showed early speed, but ceased to be a serious contender when a furlong out Brigadier labored in the going and was always wol beaten. Tatar showed early speed. Gregor K. showed his usual turn of spood, but when turning into the stretch was joined by St. Minor, the two fighting it out hard to the wire, with Ranch outriding Donnelly at the finish. Gregor K. broke flatfooted, lunged at the barrier and attomptod to run to the outside rail at the start. St. Minors race was a good one and stamps him a good mud runner. The latter showed a sharp form reversal and ran an excellent race, showing much speed. The day before he was disgracefully beaten off all the way. Andy Williams was outclassed. . The latter showed much speed but was well beaten a furlong out. Linden Ella aripoared to havo little chance after the first half had boon run, but made up ground thereafter and finished stoutly. Miss Liza showed early speed as did Somersault. The winner, entered for S500 was run up to 00 and sold to H. E. Rowell, acting for the owner.
