Grandpa, very promising and much the be-t, was practically left at the post, but raced after the field, assumed command in the first half which he easily retained to the end. Silver Twist was always a contender and held on gamely at the end. Howard Gratz fenced finely, but was repeatedly interfered with and should have been an easy second. Marylander went well at the weights. Plohu needs experience at this work, but is promising and will beat this kind later on. Charagrace ran a dull race, but finished strongly and can do much better. Miss Buttermilk raced into prominence in the firBt fnrlong from an indifferent start, and, finishing strongly, wore Honolulu down in the stretch and outgamed him in a hard drive. Honolulu led for six fnrlongs drew decisively clear when straightened for the wire and, finished well. Sweet Billie was reserved early and jnst lasted to beat Maltster. The latter finished strongly after having made up much ground. Anecdote closed a big gap and shows improved form. Tribes Hill was unlucky. Sparkle Esher, under vigorous, alert handling was well up from the start and finishing strongly easily wore Lady Albercraft down at the end. The latter palpably sulked when called on after having led throughout and appeared a safe winner in the first half. Miladi Love, poorly ridden, was pinned in next to the rail and was jumping on the leaders at the end or she might have beeu second. Lady Josephine is best in mud and failed to stay. Tioga came from a long way back and was swerving at the end under punishment. Interval quit when on the level stretch and ran a bad race. River Pirate, under a pull, waited on the pacemaker for six furlongs and lost ground by a wide stretch turn, then set sail for Sergeant and outstayed the latter in a hard final drive, but was boring in under the whip and was disqualified for fouling. Sergeant moved up on the stretch turn, stealing a good lead and just failed to last out the.journey. Mackey Dwyer worked a rough journey to the stretch wherehe closed p well. Injunction trailed to the last quarter where he moved up fast. Shorthoee badly ridden and pocketed at the end, pulled up after being crowded against the rail. Warranted, lucky and having clear sailing throughout, outsprinted Advance Guard in the last quarter. The latter, next to the rail and pocketed on the far turn with the pace very slow, moved up fast when straightened ; 1 but was unequal to holding the lightly weighted Warranted. Hermencia, difficult to place, ran under : restraint for a mile and a quarter and failed to make good when called on. Tom Kenny made the pace on sufferance and quit in the stretch.
