Playlike was driving to the limit at tht end to stall off Frank Kenney. The latter waB given a bad ride. Wiliams had him in the deep going: all the lait quarter. Aurio B. was easily the bett of the others and was hustled along for the entire trip. Inspector Shea began slowly and made up a lot of ground in the first half, but tired when it came to a drive. John Peters got off flying and had it all his own way throughout. Buchanan got The Lady off running and had the path, but pulled out and allowed John Peters to take it from him. The Lady was on the outside of the leaders all the way. Echo Dale ran well, but was tiring at the rnd and just managed to last long enough to stall off Antonius challenge. Flocarline finished fast and wore Lord Melbourne down in the stretch run and outgamed him when it came to a drive. They fought it out sharply all through the Inst furlong and Flocarline was going away at the end. Lord Melbourne thowed much early speed and ran in much improved form. Ho had the ontside position at the post and Hoar kept him on the path all the way. Kittaning ran a good raca. Hn began slowly,, but Boiesen kept him ia the good going, and he closed a big ap and finished strongly, Gannon had Sweet Alice in heevy goiDg all tho way. Pride of Galore wa3 tiring at the end. There was a lot of crowding in the race. Henry McDaniel was crowded back at the start and had scant chance. Scratched jeSJShoriff Bell, 116. The latter stumbled in the run down the back-stretch, but came again at the end and finished fast. C. B. Campbell was used up in chasing the winner and was tiring at the finish. Death is in bad form.
