Tnrfmen will glance with moro than passing interest at the woights for the Brighton Handicap of 1903, if for no other reason than that the best horses of the year and the country are engaged in the Brighton, and the allotment made by Handicapper Vosburgh foreshadows his estimate of the relative abilities of the horses of the country, and also indicates what his allotments will be in the Brooklyn and -Suburban handicaps, which precede the running of the Brighton. The variation in weight in anyrof these events will not be more than a couple of pounds, so that a glance at the Brighton adjustment may bo said to foreshadow the other great handicaps of the year. The big field of horses engaged in tha Brighton includes the very pick and flower of the handicap division of America. Gold Heels, which won this event last year, as well as the Suburban Handicap, again receives the post honor, but this time he is coupled at the head of the list with Hermis, which was pronounced the best eastern three-year-old of laBt season. Advance Guard, the iron horse, the hero of many gallant struggles on the turf, is next on the list with 124 pounds while the erratic Blues gets off with two pounds less. Of the three-year-olds Irish Lad is rated best by the handicapper. He receives 106 pounds, four pounds more than Grey Friar, the conqueror of Acefull.
