Educate tired after forcing the pace to the stretch and was unlucky to have a fast one like Cassie W. to outrun in the early stages. Ragnarok II. finished fast. Cassie W. is a nonstayer. but has superior speed which she sustained unexpectedly well. Assessment steadily made up ground from a bad Btart. ijight Ball finished with a rush. Tower of Candles, away badly and unlucky, Boon took a long and winning lead and was easing up in the last quarter and far outclassed the field. Buzzer displayed good form today, was the only serious contender and vigorously ridden might have given th winneran argument. Azarine received a bad start, but closed a big gap and finished with a rush. Dollie Wiethoff fell away in the stretch drive. Tower of Candles, show, 1 to 5. Buzzer, show, 7 to 10. Winner B. c, by Golden Garter Pink Cottage trained by M. J. Daly. Went to post at 3:08. At post 1 minute. Start fair. Won driving: second easily. Golden Cottage was lucky at the start, fell in behind the pacemaker running cloee up to the stretch, where he drew to the front, apparently winning easily, but was brought to a drive right at the end to boat Evander. The latter was outrun to the stretch, where he closed up very fast. Erema beat the barrier, led for a half and was passed in tho stretch, although apparently well in hand, becanse her incompetent jockey could do nothing with her. Yellowstone closed a gap in the last half and is improving. Young Morello went a fast half and can win when properly placed. Blackthorn dislikes this track except in very slow going. Gold Van was nearly left, bnt raced into contention in the first quarter and won with something in reserve. Gold Bell, suddenly improved, got away running, but failed to take advantage of his long lead at the start, was skillfully reserved and ran a game race. Gorgalate. best on a good track, got away well and outstayed Epicure in a long drive through the streich. Epicure received a very bad start, but raced into the lead in the first half and tired badly from the effect of a badly judged ride and can do much better. Gold Van, show, out. Gold Bell, show, out. Hesper ran a fast and game race and his form is much improved in mud. Bard Burns was poorly ridden, went very wide on the turns and finished fast on his own courage. The Major forced the pace throughout and under a skillful, vigorous ride won going away at the end. "Byronerdale suddenly improved and is evidently favored by soft gcing, closed a big eap in the last six furlongs and under bad handling swerved all over the stretch and was probably best. Fossil was interfered with early and appeared like winning when a furlong out, but tired right at the end. Clausus had no chance with his rids and went tho longest way around. Stunts went a fast six furlongs. Sir Hugh was practically left. The Major, show, out. Byronerdale, show, 11 to 20. Fossil, show, 1 to 3.
