Ben Chance was hard ridden all the way, saved ground while rounding the far turn and hung on gamely when it came to a drive. Kilogram was on the outside all the way, lost three or four lengths at the turn into tho homestretch, but came again in the last sixteenth and would have won in another stride. If You Dare ran well, but tired under punishment and Redfern allowed him to swerve into the lumpy going in the stretch run. Bummer tired after going a half. Dr. Scharff was always outrun. Buchanan picked hie going carefully with Sheriff Boll after getting off running and had to ride hard all of the last fnrlong to stall off Mauser. Robbins put up a good finish on Manser and the colt ran a good race. Anrie B. was carried wide at the first turn and closed a big gap, but tired when it came to a sharp drive. Fair Lass finished well John Coulter and In Bond tired after an early display of speed. Overweights Fair Lass, 2 pounds; In Bond, 5. Mauser, show. 7 to 10. Aurio B., show. 1 to 2. Harry New ran in fairly good form, but weakened under punishment in the deciding drive. Stratton moved up fast while rounding the far turn, but tired in the last eighth. Maxialia began slowly, but wore the leaders down whilo rounding the far turn, took command at the turn into the home.-stretch and came away without great effort in the stretch run. Lord Touchwood was under a hard drive all of the last quarter-and just managed to last long enough to stall off Epidemic. The latter closed a big gap and finished gamely under punishment. Spec showed much early speed, but his weight told on him in the stretch and he tired. Breaker ran a poor race and at no time was prominent. Double O showed improvement.
