Emshee began slowly and trailed along in the rear until rounding the turn into the homestretch, then came fast in the last furlong, catching Clorita tiring and. won going away. Clorita had no mishaps and showed early speed, but tired and quit when caught. Mollie T. came again at the end and would have been second in a few more strides. Handspinner was going fast at the end. The Pride of Surrey was used up in setting the early pace. The Cuckoo ran out at the turn of the backstretch, and tired under a drive. Royal Deceiver raced Silver Fringe to retirement in the first half and had enough left when it came to a finish to stall off Athlana. The latter began slowly, but came in the stretch run and would have won in another stride. Sweet Alice was on the outside fpr the entire trip, was under a hard drive all of the last quarter and was wearing the leaders down at the end. Silver Fringe showed high speed for a half, but tired. Sadducee was under a hard drive all of the last furlong and just managed to last long enough to stall off a challenge from Federal. The latter finished fast and would have been second in another stride. Ed L. was as good as left at the post and closed a big gap. Dewey displayed early speed and raced the leaders to subjection in the first six furlongs, was under a hard drive all of the last quarter and came away with a rush at the end. Hargis was well ridden, had no mishaps and ran to his best form. St. Tammany saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and outgamed Major Tenny in the final drive. Sheriff Bell finished gamely. Par Excellence was in close quarters while rounding the far turn and Gannon pulled up. This put her out of the struggle. Nitrate and Scotch Plaid met with a lot of interference in the first half. Carat began slowly but came with a rush in the last quarter and got second plaice in the last few strides. Jack Doyle was made too much use of and tired when called op. Bud Embry was bumped into and knocked off his stride at the furlong post. Kilogram quit when the pinch came. E. Corrigan claimed Carat for 2,325, and J.
