Locust Blossom wore the leaders down while rounding the far turn, soon raced Whitmore to defeat and had enough left to stall off Charles D.. The latter laid out of it until in the last furlong and came with a rush at the end and- was catching the winner at every stride. Whitmore showed the most early speed, but tired. Winkfield waited with him through the first half, took command easily at the turn into the homestretch and came away cantering at the end. Benmora easilv raced Alpaca into subjection. He was interfered with at the far turn, but this cut no figure in the result. Alpaca was at home in the going and showed much early speed, but could not maintain it to the end. Gannon hustled him along from the start arid raced Barkelmore to subjection in the first half and came away without much effort at the end. Barkelmore showed a liking for the going and ran the best race he has shown at the meeting. Orpheum was easily the best of the others in the going.
