Thane outclassed the field, despite the amount of weight he was conceding to everything in the race, made all his own pace and won in a canter after being eased up all of the last furlong. Ben Chance stumbled soon after the start and went to his knees, but was easily the best of the others. Blueblaze outgamed Dutch Carter in the final drive. Scratched 37S00Marshal Neil, 108. Rosanco closed up a big gap in the last quarter and finished fast. Birch Broom and Embarrassment were used up in setting the pace for the first five furlongs. Embarrassment weakened perceptibly when the pinch came and Birch Broom outgamed him at the end.
