Won handily; second driving. Dagmar, lucky at the start, picked the best going and practically forced the pace throughout, coming away fast in the last fifty yards after a long stretch drive. Legal Maxim appeared dangerous in the stretch, but tired in the final drive. Mission, crowded at the start, worked a rough journey and finished with a rush. The Singer ran in improved form and closed up a gap from a poor start and held on gamely. Pirate Maid favors a muddy track. Buck Taylor and Escarola had scant chance at the start. Mildred Schultz worked a rough journey to tHe stretch, but with clear sailing in the last furlong she came away like a flash and was best today. Doublet, evidently short, went to the front in the early stages and appeared like the winner when straightened out in the stretch, but tired right at the end. Hipponax, away poorly,- closed up a big gap and ran a good race. Florinel II. went well throughout. Hercules is a very fast horse and should give a good account of himself on a fast track. Stunts, away poorly and interfered with in the first quarter, closed up a big gap in the last half, finished like a flash on the outside in the good going and won going away. Modicum gradually improved his position in the best going and drew clear in the stretch, but tired badly at the end. J. H. Bennett, particularly favored by the stiff track, displayed unexpected speed and stamina. John Lemmons, away badly and repeatedly interfered with, closed up a great gap and was going fast at the end, runs like a stayer and is more than average class. San Lution was in the bad going throughout and ran well. Yellowstone can do better. John -Lemmons was claimed after the race by D. S. Fountain. Oriana closed up with a rush and outstayed Goldone after a long stretch drive. Goldone made the running for the first mile well in hand, but was poorly handled in the final effort and was probably unlucky to lose. Tufts, as usual, came with a belated rush at the end. Bonnie Lissak tired after going seven furlongs. Filibuster tired after following the pacemaker closely for six furlongs. Oriana, show, evens. Goldone, show, 1 to 4. Tufts, show, 8 to 5. t, Bonnie .T. An-tolee, reserved to the stretch, finished fast on the outside and caught the leaders tiring. Meehanus, fresh and good, liked the slow track and forced the pace throughout, made a wide stretch turn and came away from the others in the last furlong an apparent winner, but was caught napping. Barklyite, forced in the deep going in the first half, fell in behind the leaders, but came through at the end and but for bumping a furlong out might have won. Bard Burns was a good horse at the distance, but went the longest way. Ben Mac Dhui failed to stay after going a good seven furlongs and evidently disliked the heavy going. Antolee, show, 7 to 10. Tower of Candles broke slowly, went through next to the rail and led by a wide margin to the stretch where she tired badly and was handicapped in the stiff going. Sweet Tooth also disliked the track and was best, came with a belated rush at the end and but for swerving at a critical moment, might have won. Muresca trailed to the stretch and finished fast. Quiz tired after running prominently for a half. Tower of Candles, show. 1 to 4. Sweet Tooth, show, 2 to 5. Muresca, show, 1 to 3.
