Slow to begin, he was saved from the early pace and came around the field in the final furlong, but tired when he got up and had to be hard ridden to hold his advantage. Orloff appeared fit and good, ran a good race and was at home in the going. Aholas race was a good one. Blue and Orange was poorly handled throughout. Star and Garter was plainly short and the race should improve him. Sam Craig floundered in the going and was not persevered with. Scratched 36448 Alhambra, 89. Lord Badge, show, 1 to 3. Race King closed up with a rush when once settled to running and was going away at the end under a hustling ride and is a promising youngster. Peter Paul stood a stretch drive gamely, but swerved near the finish. Adel Trebla showed fine speed, but was not up to a route probably being short. Judge could not keep up at any stage, but outlooked the field. Oriza was probably not fit. She is highly bred but is on the small order, and weakened badly in the final furlong. Himself a high-class performer in soft going, ran a fine race and was much used in wearing Ahumada down in the stretch, but won drawing away and the race should improve him. Ahumada got off running, was good and fit and hung on gamely in the final drive. Honolulu bumped at the start and thrown off his stride, made up a lot of ground and butgamed Daly under punishment. The latter ran fairly well and will do better. Tugai Bey was in a iam at the start and, could not get to going well. Circus was high in flesh. Lucky Day received the benefit of a good ride and finished with a rush through the final furlong and was going away at the end. Cherubim made up a big gap from a poor beginning and outlasted Hist. The latter is fit and his race was a good. one. Black Diana showed speed, but was short. Lowly was used up in the early racing and can beat this-kind when fit. Alado received the benefit of a strong ride and that won. for him.- .Outrun in the first part of the race, he made up ground in the stretch under a hard drive and was all out in the last sixteenth. He and Carroll D. engaged in a bumping match in the stretch run. The latter liked the going, but was used up racing with St. Sever. The latter ran a good race, was in the deepest going all through the stretch and tired badly. Dark Planet ran well for six furlongs. Boney Boy was poorly handled. Shrine was messed about and should have been closer up. Benckart can do better. Scratched 36471 Brisk, 107; 37324 Ray, 101. Overweights Gibson Light, 1 pound. Alado, show, 4 to 5.
