Pickaway forced the pace throughout and gamely retained his lead in a long stretch drive. Penance developed improved early speed and was wearing the winner down at the end. Dotterel closed up ground steadily in the stretch. Indina got away badly and had scant chance with an incapable jockey. Hudson, away badly, made up considerable ground. Sir Preston was badly ridden in the final drive, where he was tiring after following the winners pace closely for a half. Mover closed an immense gap from a bad start. Bogus Bill was lucky, had clear sailing throughout and finished with a fast stretch rush. Modicum was a sharp contender throughout and gamely coming at the end. Hipponax was much the best, but was interfered with repeatedly and hopelessly pocketed until at the last sixteenth, where he gained ten lengths and was running faster than the leaders at the finish. Troy was nailed in the last stride for third place after appearing a sure winner in the stretch, went very wide and received a bad ride. Young Morello closed a gap. Alaria was going fast at the end. Erema quit in the last quarter and can beat this field easily. Solinus fell out of it early, but was closing up at the end. ,... : Scratched 37S5S3Pat Morrissey, 108; 37S593Swiftwing, 102; 378662Legal Maxim, 101; 37830 . Somenos, 96. Overweights Troy, 3 pounds. Rose Farr secured a lucky start, was skillfully waited with in front, drew away with a rush when straightened for the wire and had a winning lead when a furlong out.but was tiring at the end Ravelena, weakly handled, finished like a cyclone and was best and evidently favors longer races. Amberita was always a serious contender and displayed improving speed and stamina. Young Pepper, away slowly and making wide turns, can do better. Tannhauser closed a great gap from a bad start. Larry Wilt ran in much improved form, went wide on the turns, but being reserved for the first mile finished with a rush and won going away. Glissando made the running for nine furlongs and fought out a game finish. Filibuster, suddenly improved, followed the pace closely and held on well in the stretch drive. Tufts, very badly ridden, came as usual at thP end like a steam engine. Ravino went well throughout. Blessed Damozel, nearly left, worked a rough early journey.
