Dr. Boyle is in rarely good form and outclassed the field, received a lucky start and moving up quickly finished with a tremendous rush at the end. Fort Wayne made the running from the start, displayed dazzling speed and appeared like winning away off in the stretch, but tired right at the end. Father Wentker handled his weight well, was always prominent and a contender for five furlongs only tiring in the last hundred yards. Onyx II. failed to stay after following the pacemaker closely to the stretch. Modicum probably ran his race and is only moderate. Blue Miracle, away badly, made up considerable ground. Instar can do better. Scratched 37223 Lecturer, 118; 37882 Jerid, 118; 37902 Yellowstone, 114; 37961 Oro Viva, 107; 37480 Adirondack, 99. Dr. Boyle, show, 3 to 5. Fort Wayne, show, 6 to 5. Lady Laurie was given a lucky start and was always a contender, wore Amberita down in the last quarter and won going away. The latter beat the barrier and made the most of her advantage, put up a game struggle to the end but met a better one in the winner. Floriana Belle finished going fast. Quaker Girl was a prominent contender when a furlong out, displayed a superior turn of speed and was evidently not ready. Libbie Candid closed a gap from a bad start. Samar, a slow teginner, steadily improved his position. Maroma was crossed at the start. Letola was practically left and ran green, but closed up like a whirlwind at the end and is probably a good one. Lady Laurie, show, 2$ to 1. Amberita, show, 4 to 5. Floriana Belle, show, 12 to 1. Gilbert. Went to post at 3:03. At post 1 minute. Start fair. Won easily; second driving. Cambaceres was an astonishingly improved horse and may develop into the useful class. Lucky throughout he moved up at the half and taking the lead on the turn drew away with something to spare when straightened for home. Tom Slavin was a sharp contender throughout, but was ridden badly, and a wide stretch turn lost him much ground. Alturas was closing up fast at the end. Declaimer ran all the way in deep going next to the rail and was crowded back at a critical point on the stretch turn, but was fast making up lost ground at the end. The Singer, nearly left, closed a great gap and is regaining form. Cougar is still very sore. Tufts ran like a non-stayer and had no mishaps. Scratched 37722 Rim Rock, 110. Cambaceres, show, 10 to 1. Honiton indulged Money Muss with the lead to the stretch where she forged to the front without urging, but was tiring at the end and was evidently short. Money Muss ran a fast and game race and is honest and consistent. The Fretter was outrun early and trailed to the stretch turn where he commenced to move up fast, gaining a half dozen lengths in the last quarter. He is out of place in sprints. Leader loomed up dangerously when straightened out for the final sprint, but fell away after having lost several lengths by making a wide turn. Velma Clark went well, but was outclassed. Won driving; second easily Sweet Tooth spreadeagled the field for the first seven furlongs, but suddenly tired in the final furlong, was ridden with bad judgment in excessive early use and was much the best. Divina closed up with a tremendous rush in the last quarter and just failed to get up. She is very good and likes this track. Jim Hales stirrup leather broke and his race was full of merit. Position trailed to the stretch where he closed up like a whirlwind, and under an impatient ride swerved under the whip clear across the track, then recovered too late to get up again but was coming very fast. Puss in Boots, suddenly improved, received a flying start and led by a wide margin throughout and won pulling up. Alice Cary, away badly, closed up ten lengths under a waiting ride and was probably best. Gladys Bell, away running, followed the winners pace closely, held on well at the end and is much improved.
