Touchstone, off well in his stride, took kindly to the going and showing much speed won as his rider pleased. Atlantico came with a rush at the end and_was much the best of the others. Stumpy tired palpably when the pinch came after showing early speed. Helgerson made up ground in the stretch and finished strongly. Patsy Brown was not well ridden and beaten just after turning for home. Gold Piece appeared unable to extend herself with freedom in the going. Scratched— 397882Gus Heidorn, 118. Pirate took kindly to the going and standing a long stretch drive just got up in, time to win on the post. Lord Touchwood faltered slightly just before turning for home, but rallied in the final eighth and finished gamely under a strong ride. Barrica ran a good race, showing much speed, but faltered just a shade in the closing strides. Pyrrho tired fast in the final eighth. The others were never serious contenders. Scratched— 39S37 Hot, 107. Overweights — El Ghor, 1 pound. Pirate, show, 8 to 5. Lord Touchwood, show, 1 to 4. The latter was under keen pressure all through the last quarter, but the winner held him safe all through the last sixteenth. Airlight was bumped Into by Hoodwink at the start, losing her stride. She tired all over in the final eighth when running next to the inside rail. Hoodwink faltered a shade in the closing strides. Scratched— 39786McChesney, 122; 39685 Jiminez, 109. He had no chance to beat the winner and was not persevered with to any extent in the final eighth. Lendln • tired after the first five furlongs had been run. Sylvia Talbot revelled in the going and the result was never in doubt. Skilful ran well and was easily best of the others. He swung wide when turning for home, losing a little pround. neuron wore down John Peters in the final sixteenth. The latter moved up fast just before turning for home, but faltered when the pinch came. Caviar ran a dull race and | was never a serious contender.
