Brooks. Went to post at 2:42. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Flora Willoughby was outrun in the first part of the race, but caught Harding and Luckett tiring in the stretch, wore them down and outgamed Luckett in the final drie. Luckett appeared to be winning at the eighth post, but weakened when challenged, having been used too much in chasing Harding in the first half mile. Harding tired badly in the final eighth. Sailor Lad went wide at the turn into the homestretch, but came again under punishment and outgamed Two Penny in the final drive. Two Penny ran a good, game race and fought it out to the last stride. Scarf ell finished going fast. So did Toomany. Lillianette got caught in jam and fell at the far turn. Iole was cut off shortly after the start. Overweights — Toomany, 4 pounds; J. I. Mc, 4. Lieschen displayed the most early speed, but had to be shaken up at the end to stall off George Perry. The latter ran gamer than usual and was always a keen contender. Spring-water closed up strongly in the final furlong and would have been second in a few more strides. Binehelio made his run too late. He was going the strongest of the lot at the end. Flo Manola began slowly and went all around the field at the turn into the homestretch, finished with a great burst of speed and got up in the last stride. Tempe J. showed the most early speed, but was tiring at the end. Maud Johnson finished going fast and got third place in the closing strides. Vestment about ran her race and had no mishaps. Lyrist made up much ground from a poor beginning. Miss Fleischmann weakened In the stretch run. Ericula was raced to exhaustion chasing Tempe J. in the early stages. Wallabout ran his race and nosed Handcuff out in the last stride. Black Dick, after showing early speed, tired badly when the pinch came.
