FAVOR NEW BETTING PLANS. The new method of conducting betting, at the Bennings track has aroused great interest among turfmen throughout the country. They see in it many favorable features and many disadvantages. They say that the hue and cry against bookmaking and gambling must from now on be hushed, and that the many threats to bring about adverse legislation to kill racing will not be effective. This method of betting comes under the head of "personal wagers," and has been in operation in England for over a century. It .has been favorably accepted by the highest courts of Great Britain. There Is a severe penalty abroad against bookmaking or pool selling, but this kind of turf speculation has stood many test cases. New York World.
