January 31.— The horse David Bo-land and his owner, John MoOarty. a wealthy and prominent politician and brother to the famous "White Hat" McCarty, racing under the nom de course of the Reality Stable, were suspeuded after the erratic five-year-old s performance in the fifth race today in which he started a strong favorite with Walter Miller up. Jocund, ridden by A. Brown, this seasons jockey find, won a hard earned and lucky victory in the closing race. The Jennings horse, on the strength of his good work for the Burns Handicap, was backed1 into hot favoritism and made good, but was hard pressed at the end.
