BIG CROWD DESPITE BAD WEATHER. Keen Contests at Montreal — Kitty Smith a Good Filly — Water Dog Is Sick. Montreal. Que.. The sixth race was run over the Jockey Club course, which s:arts out of a chute with a straight run of alniest a half mile before the far turn is reached. This course is destined to become popular and before another season rolls past sone-ncw Canadian records for a mile are certain to 1..- established. The steeplechase, the feature race of the card. proved] rather an easy thing for Cardigan, which won in * romp after making most of his own pace. GoM ltun, K. J. Eastern owners fared well, a majority of the races being won by horses which were Shipped hen from New York. The second race, which called Car two year old fillies, vent to Mrs. s. E. Pangles Kitty Smith. She WOO in decisive fashion. T. K. Mannixs Water Dog. entered in the second race tomorrow, developed fever this morning and will probably be scratched. J. W.
