MORE RAIN AND MUD AT MONTREAL. Widows Mite Wins the Jockey Club Stakes-Prince Fushimi Guest of Honor. Montreal, Quebec. The sport was the best of tfejl week and was thoroughly enjoyed, notwithstanding that the racing was over a heavy, holding track. The fe. •tines were the Jockey Club Stakes, a steeplechase aver the full course, two handh aps. one at six furlongs and the other al a mile and an eighth, and a race for gentlemen riders which was inn aaet the toboggan course. In the stake only three went to the post, with Oahaaaaa a warm favorite at odds ou. Cobniosa found the going a bit too still and was outrun by both Widows Mile and Faclolimi. Columbia Lad showed himself to be a mud runner of the front rank by cantering away with the second race. Columbia Lad was equal choice will Lawless. When the barrier went up be rushed to the front opening up a lead of two lengths before they had gone titty yards. He was lighting for his head all the last furlong and at the end was four lengths in front ot Lawles-. which had finished fast to beat Helen Greta out for second place. J. V. Colts Paprika won the steeplechase. Ks injoy led until at the eleventh jump where he un seated his rider and then Lulu Young took up the runuiug and when coining over Ihe last jump. Bg Beared to have a safe lead. In the last sixteenth she begaa to tire and Paprika caught and beat her out in the last twenly yards. Kara will beahlpawd from here to Brookliue, where he is entered in several of the stakes. It was reported Friday that T. Hitchcock. Jr.s. Salvidere would not Im- sent to the races until the fall.
