The Squire ran into the lead at the stsrt and proceeded to spreadeagle the others, but possibly was luckv. James B. Brady, crowded at the start and boring out in the last half, was a fast going second and ran "a superior race, but requires a stronger rider. Ilollister, well up from the start, finished with a cyclonic rush. Dennis Stafford, from a slow beginning, held 011 steadily under a weak ride and will do better with light weight and over a longer route. Bcardall, away poorly, closed up moderatelv at the end. Senator Barrett, prominent in the early runniDg, failed to stay. King Sol, nearly left, closed a gap and is a grand looker. The winner was entered for ,500; no bid. Sandy Creeker cut through on the inside on the stretch turn and ran out of the course, but maintained lose pursuit of the pacemaker and finally wore him down in the long closing drive and was disqualified. Touchwood outpaced and outjumped the others decisively and but for several bad blunders could not have lost and was awarded the race anyway when Sandy Creeker was disqualified. St. Nick, away poorly and l adly outpaced, fenced clumsily, but is a rare stayer and, closing a big gap on the Hat. could notqiiite get up and is very promising. Economy was very green and beaten off. Motor, nearlv left, was well up for a mile before he fell. Lizzie Flat showed superior speed and, fencing well for a "mile and a half Is very promising. Castlewood tired at the end of a close and strenuous five furlongs pursuit of the winner. Carrollton, steadily improving, was in forward contention to the final sixteenth and tired. Robert Cooper came fast from the rear in a belated stretch challenge after having got awav badly. Hessian, away poorly, closed up steadily and will do to watch. Danoscara, within striking distance always, challenged menacingly in the stretch, but tired finally. Killaloe closed up steadily in the last quarter and had no mishaps. Yankee Girl, shuttled to the rear quickly, closed a big gap iu the last half and is in very good form. Kennyetto set the pace fast for six furlongs and then retired as if short or stale. Escutcheon developed sudden and amazing speed, set the pace to midway of the stretch and then gave way to the two leaders, but held on, unexpectedly well In the closing drive. Lotus broke slowly and moved np swiftly on the outside bnt.i going wide in the stretch, was unable to get up in a splendid race and was very seriously handicapped by an inexperienced rider. Cloisteress showed her usual line speed and was a prominent contender for six furlongs, but tired finally. Standover finished well up. Pantoiitie, nearly left, closed a big gap. Royal Ben ran better than the figures and was prominent in the early running. The winner was entered for ,500; no bid.
