i OLD HONESTY WINS IN FAST- TIME. Takes Feature at Latonia in a Canter Funi- 1 culaire a Disappointment. Cincinnati, ., October 25. The mile handicap, in which six starters contested, furnished the chief incident of todays racing. Old Honesty, heavily played, won iu hollow fashion, but at one lime he gave his backers a scare, as it seemed as if he 1 would fall. This came about as a result of jockey Pickens action astride Judge Treen in crossing in front of the field sharply soon after the start. 1 Those iu the rear of him were piled up and tangled approaching the first turn. Pickens persisted In crowding Old Honesty and. Lee, on the latter, had to use his whip to force Pickens to desist. Old Honesty wore dowu Judge Treen after, going a half . and came away iu the stretch run by himself. Colonel Jack taking second place from Judge; Treen. The judges ignored Judge Treen and placed Bed-gauntlet third. A crowd quickly surrounded the judges stand and legan clamoring until it was explained to tiieiu that Judge Trpen had been disqualified for fouling. Pickens -was-fined !?5. Jockey l"oy, who had the inouiit on "Bonn Bruuinfel, was sharply .reprimanded. for liis :appare.nt Jistl ess., ride. True Wing and Polly Prim had a great duel in Yhe stretch for the fifth, Polly Prim -proving the gamer and getting, the. decision in the final stride. Plantland, making- his first start since his injury during the spring months, made a good showing.
