The latter ran a good race, was gaining slowly, but steadily, through the stretch and will improve. Firmament had a rough trip in the early stages and finished fast when clear. Pink Cap tired after being close up for the first half. Jennies Beau came from a long way back in the stretch. Banridge ran as If short, tiring in the last quarter. Lajeunesse ran a good race and seemed the winner in the stretch, but Notter slightly outrode McDaniel at the finish. Albert Star broke fast, but was outpaced in the early stageH, then finished going fast after saving much ground when turning into the stretch and took third place in the final stride. Polar Star ran a good race and was right there at the finish. Orlandot was knocked back at the half and had scant chauce thereafter.
