Manchester drew out quickly and made the running by a wide gap, but finished tiring and just lasted the journey. Import, away badly, worked through early close quarters and closed an immense gap, but just failed to get up. St. Avon ran in forward contention throughout, but tired finally. Saint Modan, nearly left, closed a big gap and requires a strong rider. Sir Wesley ran a poor race and "had no mishaps. Altair closed a big gap in the last half. Kerry ran a bad race. Manila S., away badly, rapidly improved her position and got up in the last stride of a cracking effort. John C. Grans, after forward pursuit of the leader to the stretch, drew out like an easy winner, but succumbed unexpectedly at the end. Dr. Coleman set the pace to midway of the stretcli and tired. Red Era ran in strenuous forward pursuit of the pacemaker for five furlongs and is good. L. C. Ackerley dosed a gap from a poor start. Em and Em ran well up for half the journey and is improving. Lone Wolf forged into the lead at the end of the first quarter and was never seriously menaced thereafter. Miss May Bowdish always maintained nearest pursuit of the winner and ran an extra good race. Ehndale beat the barrier and, after being reserved well up, finished gamely and Miller outrode Walsh for third place. Tonic, knocked about ou the first turn and inadequately ridden, finished fast and is extra good. The Captain ran unexpectedly well up for seven furlongs and failed in the closing strides. Meelick, forwardly reserved In the early running, was inter fercd with on the far turn and closed an Immense gap in the next quarter, then drew out like the winner irldway of the stretch, but succumbed finally. Native Son, nearly knocked down by Andrew B. Cook on the far turn, recovered and finished gamely. Andrew B. Cook developed amazing speed but, after having cut Native Son off, tired finally. Willis Green was crowded back on the first turn aud far back in the early running, but closed an immense gap into a fast going second. Tannt, away poorly, drew up quickly into forward. contention, held on close up throughout and is extra good. Gannet, nearly left and pinched off on the first turn, closed a big gap. Surety tired finally after being well up for six furlongs. Stella A. made up ground in the last half and the same applies to Tetanus. Ray Bennett showed superior speed for six furlongs. Colonel AVhite, from a Hying start, was outpaced in the middle half, but got up to win going away in a final cyclonic rush and was best. Pal, prominent throughout, came away midway of the stretcli seeming the winner, but tired near the end. May L. N., shuffled to the rear at the start, trailed to the stretcli and finished with a whirlwind sprint. Gene Russell broke slowly on the Inside in close quarters and finished fast after overcoming stretch interference. Albion II. closed up steadily in the last half and ran a cracking race. Ingham, never dangerous in the early running, was gaining at the end. Combury showed dazzling speed, but quit badly and will do to watch.
