LEWIS RESIGNS AS GERST TRAINER Lexington Ky April 7 W L Lewis who re ¬ signed his position as trainer for William Gerst returned to Lexington today His impression was that James Blute would lake charge of the eastern division of the big stable and that Lewis would train the western division divisionConditions Conditions arose that mado it impossible for me to continue iu the service of Mr Gerst and retain my self respect said Mr Lewis today and I re ¬ signed 1 possibly would not have resented the taking of Colloquy and some other good horses from me but there were other matters of a different character arising Mr Lewis has no definite plans for the future but such n trainer will not be idle long longThe The threeyearold bay filly Frescali a full sister to Charlie Gillkrt by Masetto Frogmore died of lockjaw in the stable of Mode NIcolI at the Ken ¬ tucky Association track this morning She picked up a nail while being unloaded after the arrival of Nicolls stable from New Orleans last week NIcoIl bought her from N Moore for 250 just before leav ¬ ing New Orleans
