HAVANA TRACK NOT SOLD TO SMITH The story wired from New York to Daily Racing Form last Thursday to the effect that Charles Smith of Smith Ierry Chicago bad bought the race track at Havana Cuba for 40000 is not true On the contrary tlie track is still on sale in New York This is on tlie authority of a partner in tlie firm of Smith Terry Smith had an option on the property and had interested two or three other Chicagoans in it Some thirty days ago Smith and one of these went to Havana and looked over the property and prospects After their examination the option was surrendered The racing field in Havana is open and other race tracks are pro ¬ jected It is considered to he a tempting field but the present track was not sufficiently secured to warrant the expenditure of the large sum neces ¬ sary to put it Into firstclass condition
