GARSONS BANNER DAY AT MONTREAL Wins Half of the Days Races with Takahira Helen Hills and Dixie Himmel HimmelMontreal Montreal Que June 9 Jule Garson the young New York turfman furnished an important part In the racing at Blue Bonnets this afternoon Three of the winners came from his stable Takahira Helen Hills and Dixie Himmel carrying Ids colors to victory All three were ridden by the capable lightweight McCahey and as this rider has a large local following it meant that the ring was hit hard over the Garson victories victoriesThe The fields ruled small many of the races being ruined by withdrawals The horsemen racing here are not doing their part in helping the racing by taking advantage of the eastern rule which permits them to scratch up to within thirty minutes of post time In its original form the program seemed a good one but a majority of the races narrowed down to three and fourhorse races racesThe The running of the steeplechase was remarkable from the fact that all of the three starters fell They were remounted two of them by stable boys and finished the course The hid who took Flying Virginian over the course failed to make the neces ¬ sary weight however and the horse was not placed by the ollicials At the first jump the two choices Manzano and Flying Virginian went to their knees and lost their riders Newt Fisher then galloped around until at the eighth jump where he fell heavily and Grantland his rider was knocked out The horse was caught and a rubber named Grant was thrown in the saddle and succeeded in taking Xewt Fisher over the remainder df the course safely and took first money Manzauo was finally caught and remounted by Mcluerny finished within the time limit and won second place placeTwo Two track records were broken during the after ¬ noon Oxford clipping a Huh of a second off the mark for six furlongs by running the distance in 112J He won only after a desperate finish with Bellwether in which he beat tlie latter out a short head Bellwether and Oxford were sore when going to the post hut when it came to the running both showed extreme speed speedAnother Another track record was established when Gold way ran a mile and a furlong in the fourth race in 15J Light Wool was an oddson favorite in this race and set the pace until well inside the final furlong before ho tired At tlie end Goldway closed up with a rush next to the inside rail and squeez ¬ ing through in tlie last fifty yards got up and won wonWilliam William Hendrie Jr was among the visitors at the course this afternoon and officiated as one of the stewards
