CLOSE FINISHES IN MONTREAL RACES RACESGoldway Goldway Wins His Third Consecutive Race and Defeats Debar with Ease Montreal Que June 19 A hunters flat race and a mile and a furlong handicap for Dominion owned horses were the features of a rather ordi ¬ nary card at Blue Bonnets tills afternoon The fields were evenly balanced affairs with the result that a majority of the finishes were keenly contested with the winners in four of the races first home by heads and necks The racing conditions could not well have been Improved on and the attendance was the largest of the present week In the han ¬ dicap which called for Dominion owned horses King Cole showed something of his oldtime form by winniug in a canter from the Seagram colt Lyndhurst King Cole was purchased by Thomas Stephens a few days ago and carried for the first time the white and green maple leaves of his new owner He was ridden by Englander and after trailing Lyndhurst for a half mile went to the front with a rush rushBoth Both the feature races were won by castoffs Of the Whitney stable and hotli King Cole and Midas are by Hamburg Midas was one of the outsiders in his race and was ridden hy his owner 31 J Wray a local undertaker He came from the rear in the stretch and after a furious drive just man ¬ aged to get up in time to nose out Kumshaw with the favorite Stalker third another head away Takahira awayTakahira Montbert Midas and Lilypad won their races by heads and necks McCahey had the mount on two winners while Shilling also put a couple of winners across during the afternoon afternoonP P 31 Civills Goldway won bis third successive race at the meeting when he beat Debar out a length and a half in the second race Civill has started four horses at the meeting and with three of them has won eight races Creel and Goldway won every time they started while Doubt scored twice Civill has arranged with Henry 3IcDaniel to handle Gold way for the rest of the meeting He shipped the remainder of his stable to Windsor tonight and in the same car were the horses which J W Pangle has been racing here hereBurlew Burlew ONeill today sold to Captain W F Presgrave the twoyearold filly Ballot Girl a half sister to the Suburban winner Ballot It is un ¬ derstood that Captain Presgrave acted for Sir Thomas Shaughnessy In the transaction and that Ballot Girl was purchased with the idea of makiug a broodmare of her herThere There is some talk of Thomas Clyde entering into an arrangement with Sir Thomas Shaughnessy where ¬ by several of Mr Clydes mares and the stallion Shorthose will be shipped to Quebec The Clyde stable goes from here to Toronto and then to Fort Erie
