RICHARD CROKERS 1009 DERBY TIP For a man with exalted opinions of his horses Richard Groker is having more than a bad year in lKth England and Ireland Rhodoras luck and performances have been astoundingly bad and her owner has shown temper not to say bad judgment at times notably in his challenge to Chevalier Gini strelli after Signorinottas win of the Oaks OaksMr Mr Croker is a man of far more emotion than is charged to his account accountBack Back of his mansion at Glencairn and his flower garden and his hothouses Is a quadrangle of box stalls In the center is a statue of Dobbin the first horse Mr Croker ever owned and for which he had great affection There are a dozen stalls and in the first Is shown Orby which seems to realize the supreme Importance of a Derby winner Nailed upon the door is a gold plate properly inscribed and inclosed by one of the shoes worn in that race raceTo To American visitors Mr Croker says that his filly Alabama by Americus Rhoda R will win the Epsom Derby of 1909 as Orby won that of 1907 easily and decisively
