JEFF BERNSTEINS WELL REMEMBERED DAM DAMJeff Jeff Bernstein which won the second race at La ¬ tonla Thursday is considered to be an extra promis ¬ ing youngster His mother Lake Breeze is well remenlbered here as a frequent winner at Washing Ion Park Garfield and Hawthorne She won the Oaks at Latonla in 1S92 and was a notable racing Ilgure in the west that year and as a twoyearold in 1892 in Woodford Buckncrs colors Lake Breeze was fast but erratic by Lconatus Eva S nnd oldHal Is now nineteen years old Hal Woodford bred Jeff Bernstein and it is said offered 2000 for him Thursday after his race but his owner declined to sell Woodford has a hard luck story in reference to the colt Ho said I tolil my trainer Frank Grosche to buy him at the Kales and that I would give him the colt He vent biddingS as far as 250 and then stopped bidding S K Hughes got the colt at 250 November 28 last at the Lexington fall sales
