MUD RACING AT FORT ERIE TRACK IN SUCH CONDITION THAT HORSES HAVE TO TAKE TO THE OUTSIDE Creolin Lands the Steeplechase for Corrigan Estella EstellaC C Wins Again Burlew ONeill Selling Their Horses 7 J Buffalo N Y August 14 Track conditions to ¬ day at Fort Erie were the worst since the opening The inside half of the track was practically a quag mire and differed fully ten seconds to the mile from the outside half As a consequence there was a general scurry soon after the starts to get to the good strip and path iraclng made famous by the New resultedBad Orleans tracks resulted Bad riding contributed tor the defeats Of the best horses in several instances C Ross was the chief offender in this respect His poor judgment wan held to blame for Malecons defeat in the first by Dorothy Webb and for Washakies failure in the fifth won by 1ajeunesse Both his mounts were beaten out Uy narrow margins Jockey T Steeles exhibition on the favorite Usury in the fourth brought adverse comment from a number of the disgruntled ones who had backed the horse freely They were justified in giving vent to their feeling against the rider for with the least bit of Judg ¬ ment on his part Usury would Uiave Won as she vas clearly best and showed it by finishing third after having been taken all over the track and covering almost a sixteenth more ground than thu leaders leadersThe The steeplechase went to Creolln Incidentally it marked the first purse that the Corrigan stable has won so far through the field at this meeting Cre ¬ olln was ridden in superb style by Helder ran under restraint for the first nine hedges nnd TVhcn called oa wore Lights Out down with ease Tom easeTom Reid at short odds was best of a fair field of youngsters that started in the third race and won as his rider pleased Lajeunesse purchased by 7U Goldblatt from Bnrlew ONeill before the racing made good the amount he cost by winning it for his new owner when he landed the purse in the fifth race Estella C repeated her victory of yesterday and led almost from the start in the closing race The other races were without incident incidentIt It is the intention of Bttrlew ONeill to dispose of all their horses now in training Including Cbo pultepec In addition to selling Lajeunesse thb firm has also sold Hampton Beauty While at Saratoga recently Fred Burlew sold his interest in Angelus to F II Hitchcock An offer has also been made for Dennis Stafford1 that ONeill is training for Johnny Howard and the probabilities are that he will change hands tomorrow tomorrowBurlew Burlew ONelHs desire to sell is brought abont by their recently made plans to invade France Burlew has been made the offer he desired by a wealthy Frenchman and will train a big stable Frank ONeill is also desirous of going abroad and regotiations are at present pending for his accept ¬ ance of a fat contract to ride for the same owner that Burlew will train for ONeill at present weighs about 120 pounds rides In exercises daily and would not require much reducing to get to a weight that ridingJ would permit his frequent riding J B Respess will ship thirteen horses to the Em ¬ pire City track where they will be raced and then Chipped to Montreal MontrealJockey Jockey Bergen left today for New York where he will ride fm his contract employer Joe Marrone Jockey Nlcol will leave for New York to ride Charlea Edward in the Yonkers Handicap at Empire City W Allen left for Saratoga J Butler was suspended for three days by the starter in yesterdays last race for disobedience at the post James Milton who wielded the flag at Tampa and Havana will be engaged to dp the starting at James ¬ town A considerable number of horses now here will be raced there
