NEW ORLEANS REGRETS PRESIBENT BARNES BARNESThe The talk among turfmen and many business men i hero yesterday was on the Midden death of David II Barnes president of the City Park Jockey Club and I a wellknown contractor which occurred Monday r night at Chicago and his demise was sincerely re ¬ gretted by all who knew him says the New Or lenns PicaynneIn Picaynne In his removal from Xew Orleans circles which ho had just entered the community lost one of Its most active energetic and clever workers Mr Barnes was engaged in filling several contracts at Houston Tex by constructing railroad terminal stations and other buildings there Building the magnificent City Park racing plant was Mr Barnes first work here but he had olficcs here and later did other work in adding to the numberless flue buildings here having all but located here per ¬ manently when his last Illness seized him during a visit with his family to Chicago ChicagoIt It is probable that a new president of the City Park Jockey Club will be selected at the next called meeting of the directors However since the close of the legal tangle Into whicU the New Orleans Jockey Club fell the City Park Jockey Club has been practically the same as to stockholders and intentions and action toward filling the vacancy does not have to be hurried Edward hurriedEdward Corrlgan is mentioned as probable presi ¬ dent of the local Jockey club that will control racing here this winter
