REMARKABLE STAYING BY A PONY One hundred years ago this month says the London Sportsman a bet of 2500 was won by a IxHidoner who ran his pony against the mail coach from London to Exeter They left Hyde Park Corner on Saturday night the pony without a rider led by IL groom on another horse and relays of men and horses were stationed along the road to lead it on ouch and ijony kept nearly together for upwards of 100 miles after which the ponv continued to gain ground arriving in Kxeter on Sunday evening an hour Iwfow the mail having performed a distance of 176 miles in twentythree hours and thirtynine minutes The pouy was twelve hands high
