WHITNEYS HORSES. i While the Whitney stable did not do badly this year, all things considered, still it fell considerably below its record of 37,00-1 won In 1907. In large measure this was duo to the fact the Whitney two-year-olds turned out disappointingly, none fleet enough to cope successfully with the Madden and Keene youngsters cropping up from the big band with which the stable began the year. In the way of three-sxar-olds It possessed in Stamina the best three-year-old lilly of the year and she was far and awav the best money winner. But Stamina failed when pitted against the best colts in opposing stables Of its i:her three-year-olds Bar None and Royal Tourist raced creditably, but both were far from bein" in the tirst night of the older horses. Baby Wolf and Brookdale Nymph held their own fairly well and up to a mile Baby Wolf is a real race horse. Quite probably the chief disappointment of the stable was Perseus In running second to Helmet in the Hopeful Stakes this beautifully bred colt aroused expectations that his subsequent racing did not confirm.
