COLD WEATHER RACING AT LATONIA. Miss Sain Takes tho Principal Raco, Defeating T. M. Green and Berwick Easily. Cincinnati. O.. November 4. With the exception of tho handicap at three-quarters, for all ages, in which some of the speediest sprinters on the grounds started, todays card was a poor one. The cold weather kept the attendance down considerably and made it uncomfortable for those on hand. The sport was routine and resulted in the defeat of most of the favorites. Miss Sain showed a return to her best form by taking the feature race, for which she was the favorite, in easy style. During the early running T. M. Green and Colloquy raced out in frout at a fast pace but could not get far away from Miss Sain. Colloquy found her impost of 125 pounds a heavy burden during the stretch drive and gave way to Berwick, but T. M. Green held on well and gave game chase to Miss Sain, which had dashed into the lead, and while unsuccessful in his attempt to overhaul her held Berwick safe for second place. T. C. McDowell sent three representatives to the post during the afternoon, but they all suffered from accidents and poor riding, which partially accounted for their defeats. His Mirth was considered the safest betting medium of tl:o afternoon, but Griffin took her back sharply at the start when The Shaughraun bore over a trille. and before he straightened her again she was practically last and a. forlorn hope. She closed a big gap and just failed to get third place. Palamon, The Shaughraun and Stone Street finishing iu advance of her in the order named. In the opener The Peer ran as if much the best, was in innumerable tight places for the first half and. when he finally did secure a clear course, the race was practically over with Wamboro and Home Run leading him. Wamboro was somewhat of a surprise and practically neglected in the betting. Aspirin was much the best of those that started in the second race and achieved an easy victory under Butlers good riding. The same rider was responsible for Oroonokas improved showing in winning the third race from Maid Militant, the favorite. The latter was much the best in about as poor a band as could be mustered and with average good riding would have won. Hannibal Bey ran to his best form in the closing race and. after shaking off Mortiboy. had matters his own way. The dearth of good riders was increased today by the departure of McGee. who enters the employ of .Miller Henderson, the latter successfully concluding negotiations for the transfer of the contract held by B. Vincent on the lads services. The consideration is said to be ,000. McGee departed for Louisville this morning, where he will join the Henderson stable and leave tonight for California. Jockey A. Pickens was fined 5 by the judges for rough riding in the fifth race while astride The Shaughraun. Applications for stall room were received today from .1. H. McCormick. W. M. Wallace and S. W. Street t. These owners are exiocted to arrive from New York the latter part of this week. Nugent Bros, purchased privately today the horses Royal Jack. Mufti and Anile. T. P. Hayes has no intention of shipping any of his horses to the coast tracks. He made several complimentary entries to the stakes there. The briefs have all been filed by the attorneys of both sides in the review case. Judge Harbeson. who will decide the case, will take the matter up tonight and may render a decision tomorrow, i
