MADRILENO A PROFITABLE INVESTMENT. The death of the fast two-year-old gelding. Alad-rlleno. which occurred at Oakland last Saturday, has removed from the extensive China stable one of its most consistent and useful racers. Aladrileno succumbed to an attack of pneumonia contracted while being shipped from Arcadia to Oakland. Aladrileno was a two-year-old gelding by Ethelbert, out of Old Aladrid, and was bred by Perry Belmont. At the auction sale of Perry Belmonts yearlings at Sheepshead Bay on September 14. 11107. Aladrileno was knocked down to P. T. Clilnn for 0. The sale of Aladrileno for such a small sum shows what bargains and good investments are ortcu made at such sales. Afadrilenos first start was at Santa Anita Park, on January 15. running unplaced in his maiden effort. His first win was at Oakland, running three-eighths of a mile in 3G5. cantering at the finish. He reeled off one-half mile In 4S fiat at Santa Anita Park in February, winning from such good ones as Cull Holland and Horace H. After the close of the California season Chinn shipped his stable east and Aladrileno again displayed his good class by winning three straight races at Aqueduct. His last winning race was at Jamaica. Alay S. and his last start was made at Hamilton. October S, finishing third. During Aladrilenos brief career he started In twenty-eight races, was first in eight, second in four, third in five and unplaced in eleven, earning the sum of ,403. Thus an investment of 0 netted P.
