KEENE INSPECTS SYSONBYS SKELETON. One of the most interested spectators viewing the exhibition of the mounted skeleton of Sysonby, the champion three-year-old of 1005 and one of the most famous race horses of the century, at the Museum of Natural History in New York last week, was James B. Keene, in whose colors Sysonby raced. Mr. Keene. who always insisted that Sysonby was as good a horse as ever looked through a bridle, was naturally very critical in his examination of the mounting of the bones, but before the exhibition was over was one of the most ardent admirers of the new acquisition to the museum and warmly congratulated President Osborne on the work. It will not be amiss to recall some of the striking features in the remarkable career of this famous race horse. Sysonby was bred in England by the late Marcus Daly, of Montana, but was foaled in America, the property of James H. Keene. He was. tlic son of Melton Optimo, was a magnificent specimen of the thoroughbred and, with the exception of the Futurity, when lie was beaten by Artful and Tradition, his was an unbroken list of victories. In the summer of 1903 Sysonby was broken and in the fall of that year went to James Rowe to be prepared for racing the following spring. Sysonby ran in fiftjjsraces and was never unplaced.
