PREFERS ENGLAND TO FRANCE. Tom Welsh is one returning traveler from the other side that is not so sanguine over the chances for American horsemen in France. "I bad an idea i might like to try my hand there." said Welsh, "but Im cured. Not that I dont like the country and the raciug, but theres nothing in it for the American trainer. Its all training public stables there, and it costs a lot of money to get a good place that is conveniently located. Expenses all through are perhaps not much higher than here, but I think I should much prefer England to train in."
