Haensel ran in behind the pacemakers to the stretch, where he swung to the rail, was in close quarters ail of the final sixteenth, but finished fast under sharp urging and headed Belle of Iroquois in the last few strides. The latter began fast and, setting a hot pace throughout, finished resolutely under the whip. Frontcnac was taken hack on the far turn anil closed up steadily in the final eighth under a vigorous ride and would have been second in a few more strides. Norfolk, in a long stretch drive, finished fast. Pal was always outrun. Lord of the Forest, in trying to get through next to the rail on the far turn, was hopelessly cut off. Dandelion, shandy cut off when a sixteenth out. had to swing to the left tor a clear course, then came fast and finished gamely under punishment. Ethon. badly cut off on the far turn, was thrown clear out of any chance, but recovered fast after entering the stretch and finished with a rush. ox Populi, on the outside of the others to the stretch, steadily closed up ground in the last eighth.
