NO CHANGE IN THE TAMPA RING Syndicate Arrangement Continues Because of the Failure of Additional Layers to Draw In Tampa Fla January 3 Lack of bookmakers up ¬ set the plans to open wide the betting ring as con ¬ templated for today The same six layers that had lKen posting prices under the syndicate agreement were the only ones to put their names down when drawin time came The management thought it illadvised to sacrifice 450 daily and decided to allow the layers to continue the former arrange ¬ ment There was no specific agreement for the future and as soon as two additional bookmakers show a disposition to go on they will be accorded places in line and the syndicating of the ring will cease ceaseMore More perfect weather for racing could not be imagined than prevailed this afternoon Outoftown visitors were plentiful and they contributed toward making the attendance one of the largest of the meeting Todays racing was interesting with a liberal sprinkling of surprises Favorites fared well in a majority of the racesMhe principal fail ¬ ures of choices coming in the opening and closing dashes The first was a baby dash at three fur ¬ longs out of a chute arid it resulted in a rousing finish between T P Hayes pair Oracle and Wachula with the Schreiber filly and favorite Louise B in third place The starters were green and scurried all over the track Edwin L was the shortestpriced favorite of the afternoon to fail He seemed to sulk and was beaten by Icarlan and Flora Riiey The contest for second third and fourth places was a close one and many thought Bannock Bob had lasted for second place but he was not placed by the judges C I Chenault took a double with Tom Dolan and Ramon Corona The latter was carded as l eing trained by Ml J Daly DalyThe The time in the twoyearold race was the fastest three furlongs of the meeting probably because the race was over the straight course courseThere There are rumors that a change is imminent here and that purses will probably be raised to the value of 250 and 300 before the end of the weak The sport at present is in a healthy condition and most of the patronage comes from outoftown vis ¬ itors itorsAccording According to report several of the layers who were in the combination quit losers under the syn ¬ dicate arrangement
