RECALLS BROMOS VICTORY AT WOODBINE The incident of San Francisco racing on Saturday when Phil Mohr was sent away in front of the bar ¬ rier will revive the gossip about Bromos famous race in the fog at Woodbine On the second lo last day of the Jockey clubs spring meeting of 1900 fog rolled in from the lake during the afternoon so heavily that the running of the fifth race could not lie seen till the uorses were almost home Objects three hundred yards away were invisible in the mist aud nothing could be discerned of the incidents of the race It was a fivefurlongs sprint with eleven starters Frank Ware handled the Hag the start ¬ ing barrier not being in use Flying Bess was the favorite with Zoroaster second choice There was a long delay at the post and the crowds on the stands and lawn waited impatiently for the appearance of the horses In the stretch Bromo owned by the late Joseph Duggan and ridden by Bunt Flint was the first to break through the rolling clouds and lie was three or four lengths in front of Xoroaster Jack Martin was riding his hardest pn the Car ruthers Shields horse but the best he could do was to reduce the lead to two lengths Zanoue fin ¬ ished third while Spriugwells and Flying Bess were among the Hock In the reiir Bromo was said to liuve got away in a false break and not returned to start but Flint maintained that lie went off with the others and beat them home because Bromo was a good mud horse Bromo was a 40tol chaiico Toronto Globe
