GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY TRAINING GROUNDS Louisville Ky February 5 Churchill Downs and Douglas 1ark presented scenes of bustle and activity yesterday trainers taking advantage of the good weather The Derby favorite Waldo was given some six miles of slow jogging and Fighting BOD Don Antonio King Olympian and other Derby candi ¬ dates did slow work workW W F Schulte was out to see his horses and ex ¬ pressed himself as pleased with their condition Hi is elated over the fact that Xienaps dam is likely to have a foal for him this year by the Kentucky Derby winner Sir Iliion Most of his mares will have foals this year by Batts a winner of the Clark Handicap HandicapFor For training purposes the Inside track at Churchill Downs would I hard to beat while even the outer course is in better condition than on many race days though a trifle muddy The Inner tracks superb drainage accounts for its satisfying condition at all times C L Harrison owner of Waldo has selected names for four twoyearolds by Broomstick which Raleigh Colston is training for him at Churchill Downs The bay colt out of Sue Smith by Masetto is named Meridian Aviator Is the name selected for the brown colt out of Lizzie T by Mortemer the bay Ully out of Etficl Pace by Troubadour will be known as Housemaid while Princess Calloway is the name for the bay Glly out of Flocarline by St Floriau the latter Ully being a halfsister to the eastern crack Master Robert Both Meridian and Aviator are eligible to the Great Trial Stakes at Sheepshead Bay and other rich 1010 events and trainer Colston will prepare them especially for the firstnamed race Housemaid is eligible for the Lexington Breeders Futurity and will go there to race if she trains well this spring Trainer Colston says F A Forsythe entered Dorante only in the Suburban aud Brighton Handicaps because he Hoes not want the horse rushed in training this year and for that reason ilid not engage him in the Brook ¬ lyn Handicap
