OAKLAND CROWD BEST OF THE SEASON San Francisco Cal February 12 One of the largest crowds of the season witnessed the racing at Oakland today and the sport was of the highly interesting kind Favorites fared badly during the early part of the program but Keep Moving and John H Shcehan finally came to the rescue of tho followers of the first choices One of the upsets came in the second race for which Hey el Tovar was favorite He finished last while Rapid Water quoted as high as 15 to 1 led the Ueld home The horse showed something of his oldtime form and cantered past the leaders Hampass an oddsou iavorite in the third also finished outside the money Sir Barry a G to 1 chance leading all the way Hamper l eat Goldfinn a neck in the fourth H G Bedwell had better luck in the fifth when Keep Moving MeltondaleC beat Meltondale C H Jones bid up Keep Moving from 400 to COO but she was retained retainedStarter Starter Holtman fined jockeys Shilling and Martin 30 each in the second William secondWilliam Cain again holds the contract on Roy Selden the apprentice having repurchased It from D S Fountain FountainRichard Richard Dwyer will preside at the barrier for the next two weeks commencing Monday
