SELLING PLATERS DAY AT MONCREIF R F Carmans Stable Goes to Tampa to Race Judge Murphy Will Not Officiate at Jamestown Jacksonville Fla February 14 Wellbacked horses won most of the races at Mbncreif Park this afternoon Favorites scored twice and two races went to second choices Tlie card was ordinary but as the fields were evenly balanced stirring contests resulted Jockeys Butwcll and iMeGee rode two winners each and with a better break in tiie open ¬ ing dash But well would have won with Oghwaga The latter came In for strong supix rt but was beaten a bead bv airs L A Livingstons Starboard at odds of TO to 1 1Tlie Tlie track was drying out during the afternoon and was in fairly good condition conditionU U F Carman announced n change In his plans and instead of shipping his big stable back to New York he will send his entire lot from diore to Tampa where they will reniuiu until the opening of the eastern racing season seasonCaptain Captain C A Tilles wws an arrival at Monereif Park tills afternoon He confirmed the report that he is now In control of the Latbuhincc track havng purchased the interest held liy L A Cclla J 15 Respess J 1i Khinock and George Cox He says that the mutuels will hc installed at Latonia and every attempt made to give a highclass meeting Tlie value of the stakes will be increased and John Hachmeister will act as manager and racing secre ¬ tary The other officials have not as yet been de ¬ cided upon but they will foe the best obtainable obtainableJudge Judge Joseph A Murphy denies the report that he will officiate at the Jamestown meeting this spring Mr Murphy is tied up with the Florida Live Stock ami Agricultural State Fair Association and this circumstance will detain him hern until April Hi the date set for the closing of the meeting Were it not for this connection lie would certainly avail himself of the opportunity of going to Jamestown as lie Is of the opinion that a meeting there with dates that do not conflict with Baltimore and New York will be a success successK K A Smith who left here several weeks ago to go to England returned this morning and will put in tlie remainder of the winter at Moncrcif Park
