3 E WIDENERS 1910 RACING PLANS PLANSNew New York February 15 Joseph E Widener who last season confined most of his racing efforts to the French courses is contemplating a much more ex ¬ tensive campaign at home during the coming season Mr Widener has for several seasons maintained a liig crosscountry stable and he still lias an estab ¬ lishment of some importance in France Howard Lewis who went abroad witli the Widener horses 3s back in America and is organizing a stable to carry countryTwo the Widener colors in this country Two important purchases recently made were the threeyearolds Newmarket and Naughty Boy acquired ttom John E Madden They are both being schooled and are of a quality that should make them worthy racers over the jumps Newmarket is a son of Plaudit and Nalmia the dam of Stokes the best American jumper in France last season JIo is a colt of excellent size and last season was winner of 2r 80 for Mr Madden Naughty Boy 1s a son of Ogden and Imp and while he went into winter quarters a maiden he is a colt that attracted general attention for his size and his excellent way of galloping Some other purchases have been made Iv Mr Widener and it is his intention to buy young liursos of quality and preferably maidens over the Jumps Mr Widener has all winter taken a lively interest in matters pertaining lo stcenlechasiiig and will surely be in the field early with a firstclass string
