COMMITTEE FAVORABLE TO RACING Ottawa Ont February 19 Taking of evidence In the Miller bill closed late last night with state ¬ ments from John F Ryan of Montreal manager of the National Breeding Bureau and Captain P Folkes lately of South Africa The latter testified to the efficiency of the totalizator or mutuel system AVritten arguments will be presented not later than February 28 and the committee will make a report to Parliament next month It is conceded that five of the seven members of the committee are im ¬ pressed with the conviction that no action should be taken to injure racing iu Canada
